  • Abstract
    Thispaperdescribesthedevelopmentofgeneralizedrelationshipsforsingle-andtwo-phaseintersubchannelturbulentmixinginverticalandhorizontalflows,andlateralbuoyancydriftinhorizontalflows. Therelationshipsforturbulentmixing,togetherwitharecommendedoneforvoiddrift,havebeenimplementedinasubchannelthermalhydraulicscode,andassessedusingarangeofdataonenthalpymigrationinverticalsteam–waterflowsunderBWRandPWRdiabaticconditions.Theintentofthisassessmentwastooptimizetheserelationshipstogivethebestagreementwiththeenthalpymigrationdataforverticalflows.TheoptimizedturbulentmixingrelationshipswerethenusedasabasistobenchmarkaproposedbuoyancydriftmodeltogivethebestpredictionsofvoidandenthalpymigrationdatainhorizontalflowstypicalofPHWRCANDUreactoroperationundernormalandoff-normalconditions.
