Abstract :
Atheoreticalmodelhasbeendevelopedtostudythelocalheattransfercoefficientofacondensingvapourinthepresenceofanoncondensablegas,wherethegas/vapourmixtureisflowingdownwardinsideaverticaltube.Thetwo-phaseheattransferisanalysedusinganannularflowpatternwithaliquidfilmatthetubewallandaturbulentgas/vapourcore.Thegas/vapourcoreismodeledusingtheanalogybetweenheatandmasstransfer.ThemodelincorporatesNusseltequationwithMcAdamsmodifierandBlangettimodelforcalculatingthefilmheattransfercoefficient,MoodyandWalliscorrelationstoaccountforfilmwavinesseffectongas/vapourboundarylayer.Thesuctioneffectduetocondensation,developingflowandpropertyvariationofthegasphaseisalsoconsidered.Acomparativestudyofheattransfercoefficientandvapourmassflowratehasbeenmadewithvariousmodelstoaccountforcondensatefilmresistanceandcondensatefilmroughness.ResultsshowthatforveryhighReynoldsnumber,thecondensationheattransfercoefficientishigherthanthefilmheattransfercoefficient.
