Abstract :
Inthewaterpressurisednuclearreactors,thefuelrodcladdingisthefirstbarrieragainstradioactiveisotopesrelease.Itsintegritymustbedemonstratedallalongthefuelrodirradiationwithincreasingstrenuousoperatingconditions.ThispaperdealswithastudymadewithElectricitédeFrance(EDF)inordertoimprovetheunderstandingandmodellingofthethermomechanicalbehaviouroffuelrodsunderthesemorearduousconditions.TheaimofthisstudyistoevaluatetheseparateinfluencesofstructuralandmaterialparametersvariabilityonPellet–CladdingInteraction(PCI).Thefollowingparametershavebeentestedby3Dsimulationsforacommonrampingcondition:axialandradialpelletcracksnumbers,pelletfragmentsize,relativefragmentsdisplacement,non-symmetricalconfiguration,pellet–pelletfrictionandpellet–claddingfriction.Thesecondpartofthearticledealswiththedevelopmentofamodel,whichgivesabetterassessmentofcladdingstressconcentrationnearradialfuelcracks.Theimplementationinthe1DfuelrodEDFcodeCYRANO3andthevalidationofthemodelarepresented.
