Abstract :
Creep–fatigueisanimportantfailuremodeinelevatedtemperaturecomponentsespeciallyforweldments.Toestablishrationaldesign-by-analysismethodsforweldments,theCEAandJNChavedevelopedcreep–fatigueevaluationmethods.Bothorganizationshavecompareddataandideasthroughtwokindsofbenchmarkanalyses.TheCEAbenchmarkisfatigueandcreep–fatigueevaluationofweldedplatesunderreversebendingat550°C.TheJNCbenchmarkiscreep–fatigueevaluationofaweldedvesselundercyclicthermaltransients.Themaindifferencesinthemethodsarethestrainconcentrationfactorsforbasemetalfatiguestrengthreductionfactorsofweldments.Toevaluateinferiorperformanceofweldmentstobasemetal,theCEApaysattentiontomaterialstrengthreductionintheweldmetal,whiletheJNCexaminesstrainredistributionbetweenthebaseandweldmetals.BoththeCEAandJNCcalculationsgavegoodresultsforweldedplates.Bothmethodsobtainedconservativeresultsforaweldedvesselbecauseevaluationmethodsforbasemetalareconservative.
