Abstract :
Thispapershowsabasicconceptofanearfutureboilingwaterreactor(BWR)aimingatevolutionalsafetyandcostsavingswithminimumchangefromthecurrentadvancedBWR(ABWR).Theplantoutputisupratedto1500MWefrom1356MWe.Thispowerupratecanbringaboutpotentialof11%costsavingperMWebase.Safetyimprovementasanextgenerationlargereactorisalsoachieved.
Theadvancedreinforcedconcretecontainmentvessel(ARCCV)isusedforthecontainmentvesseltoimprovesafetyforsevereaccidents.Thepeakpressureofthecontainmentatsevereaccidentscanbekeptclosetothedesignpressure.Theadvancedpassivecontainmentcoolingsystem(APCS)isalsoprovidedandcanaccomplishnoprimarycontainmentvessel(PCV)venting.
Theadvancedemergencycorecoolingsystem(AECCS)consistsoffourdivisionsinthefrontline.Theadvancedpassivecoolingsystem(APCS)isalsoprovided.Thecombinationofthefourdivisionalemergencycorecoolingsystem(ECCS)andthepassivesafetysystemimprovestheplantperformanceinprobabilisticsafetyassessment(PSA).
ThisplantconceptisdesignedbasedontheheritageofthecurrentABWR.Nomoremajorresearchanddevelopment(R&D)arenecessary.Therefore,constructionandoperationispossibleintheearly2010s.
