Abstract
Thisliteraturesurveyisdevotedtohydraulicresistanceofwaterandcarbondioxideflowsatsupercriticalpressures.Theobjectivesaretoassesspreviousstudiesthatweredoneintheareaofhydraulicresistanceoffluidsatsupercriticalpressuresflowinginchannelsofvariousgeometriesandtounderstandthespecificsofpressuredropattheseconditions.Theliteraturesearchshowedthatthemajorityofexperimentaldatawereobtainedinverticaltubes,somedatawereobtainedinhorizontaltubesandjustafewoftheminotherflowgeometriesincludingbundles.Ingeneral,hydraulicresistancedataarelimitedcomparedtotheheattransferdataatsupercriticalpressures.Differencesinpressuredropbetweensupercriticalandsubcriticalforcedconvectionseemtoberelatedtosignificantvariationsinthermophysicalpropertiesnearthecriticalandpseudocriticalpoints.Duetothesevariations,satisfactoryanalyticalandnumericalmethodshavenotyetbeendevelopedespeciallyinturbulentflowsandathighheatfluxes.Ingeneral,thepressuredropinsupercriticalfluidflowconsistsoffourcomponents:pressuredropduetofrictionalresistance,duetolocalflowobstruction,duetoaccelerationofflowandduetogravity.Thetotalpressuredropatsupercriticalpressurescanbeestimatedusinggeneralcorrelationsforpressuredropatsubcriticalpressureswithcorrectionfactorsfortheeffectofsignificantthermophysicalpropertiesvariationsandhighheatfluxes.Onlyonepaperwasdevotedtopressuredropintightshortbundlescooledwithwateratsupercriticalpressures.Therefore,moreexperimentalworkisneededtoestimatethetotalpressuredropinvariousbundledesignswiththeobjectiveofprovidingreliableinformationfordesigningsupercriticalwaternuclearreactors.
