  • Abstract
    Aflowmodelisformulatedtoanalyzethesingle-andtwo-phaseflowcharacteristicsintheprimarysideofavertical,invertedU-tubesteamgenerator.Usingtheflowmodel,apressuredrop–massflowratecurveisderived.Itisshownthatthecurvehasanegativeslopeand,thus,flowexcursioninstabilitycanoccurundercertainlow-flowconditions.Thestabilitycriterionanditsphysicalinterpretationaregiven.NonuniformflowbehaviorsinmultipleU-tubesofdifferenttubelengthsarealsodiscussed.
