Abstract
AsoneoftheadvanceddesignfeaturesoftheAPR1400(AdvancedPowerReactor),adirectvesselinjection(DVI)systemisadoptedinsteadoftheconventionalcoldleginjection(CLI)system.ItisknownthattheDVIsystemgreatlyenhancesthereliabilityoftheemergencycorecooling(ECC)system.However,thereisstilladisputeonitsperformanceintermsofwaterdeliverytothereactorcoreduringtherefloodperiodofalarge-breakloss-of-coolantaccident(LOCA).Thus,experimentalvalidationisunderway.Inthispaper,anewscalingmethod,usingthetimeandvelocityreduced“modifiedlinearscalinglaw”,issuggestedforthedesignofascaled-downexperimentalfacilitytoinvestigatethedirectECCbypassphenomenainthePWRdowncomer.
