  • Abstract
    AnamountofprimaryenergysupplyinJapanisincreasingyearbyyear.Muchenergysuchasoil,coalandnaturalgasisimportedsothattheself-sufficiencyratioinJapanisonly20%evenifincludingnuclearenergy.Anamountofenergyconsumptionisalsoincreasingespeciallyincommercialandresidentsectorandtransportsector.Asaresult,alargeamountofgreenhousegaswasemittedintotheenvironment.NuclearenergyplaystheimportantroleinenergysupplyinJapan. JapanAtomicEnergyResearchInstitute(JAERI)hasbeencarriedoutresearchanddevelopmentofahydrogenproductionsystemusingahightemperaturegascooledreactor(HTGR).TheHTTRprojectaimsattheestablishmentoftheHTGRhydrogenproductionsystem.ReactortechnologyoftheHTGR,hydrogenproductiontechnologywiththermochemicalwatersplittingprocessandsystemintegrationtechnologybetweentheHTGRandahydrogenproductionplantaredevelopedintheHTTRproject.
