Abstract :
Thereactorpressurevessel(RPV)oftheHTTRis5.5m(insidediameter),13.2m(insideheight),and122mm(shellthickness).TheRPVcontainscorecomponents,reactorinternals,reactivitycontrolsystem,etc. 21/4Cr–1MosteelischosenasthematerialforRPV.Thetemperaturereachesabout400°Catnormaloperation.ThefluenceoftheRPVisestimatedtobelessthan1×1017n/cm2(E>1MeV)andsoirradiationembrittlementisnegligible,buttemperembrittlementisnotnegligible.Forthepurposeofreducingembrittlement,contentofsomeelementsmustbelimitedinthe21/4Cr–1MosteelfortheRPV;embrittlementparameters,J-factorandimageareused. Inthispaper,designandstructureoftheRPVarereviewedfirst.FabricationprocedureoftheRPVanditsspecialfeaturearedescribed.Materialdataonthe21/4Cr–1MosteelmanufacturedfortheRPV,especiallytheembrittlementparameters,J-factorandimage,andnil-ductilitytransitiontemperatures,TNDT,bydropweighttests,areshown.In-serviceinspectionandresultsofR&Dsarealsodescribed
