Abstract :
ThecontainmentstructuresoftheHTTRconsistofthereactorcontainmentvessel,theservicearea,andtheemergencyairpurificationsystem,whichminimisethereleaseoffissionproductsinpostulatedaccidents,whichleadtofissionproductreleasefromthereactorfacilities.Thereactorcontainmentvesselisdesignedtowithstandthetemperatureandpressuretransientsandtobeleak-tightinthecaseofaruptureoftheprimaryconcentrichot-gasduct,etc.Thepressureinsidetheserviceareaismaintainedatanegativepressurebytheemergencyairpurificationsystem.Theemergencyairpurificationsystemwillalsoremoveairborneradioactivityandwillmaintainacorrectpressureintheservicearea.
Theleak-tightnesscharacteristicsofthecontainmentstructuresaredescribedinthispaper.Themeasuredleakageratesofthereactorcontainmentvesselwereenoughlessthanthespecifiedleakagelimitof0.1%/dconfirmedduringthecommissioningtestsandannualinspections.Theserviceareawaskeptinawaythatthedesignpressurebecomeswellbelowitsallowablelimitationbytheemergencyairpurificationsystem,whichfiltersefficiencyofparticleremovalandiodineremovalwelloverthelimitedvalues.
Theobtaineddatademonstratethatthereactorcontainmentstructureswerefabricatedtominimisethereleaseoffissionproductsinthepostulatedaccidentswithfissionproductreleasefromthereactorfacilities.
