Abstract
Inthehightemperaturegas-cooledreactors(HTGRs),refractorycoatedfuelparticlesareemployedasfueltopermithighoutletcoolanttemperature.Thehightemperatureengineeringtestreactor(HTTR)employstri-isotropic(TRISO)-coatedfuelparticlesintheprismaticfuelassembly.ResearchanddevelopmentontheHTTRfuelhasbeencarriedoutspreadoverabout30years,infuelfabricationtechnologies,fuelperformance,andsoon.Furthermore,forupgradingofHTGRtechnologies,anextendedburnupTRISO-coatedfuelparticleandanadvancedtypeofcoatedfuelparticle,ZrC-coatedfuelparticleinordertokeeptheintegrityathigheroperatingtemperatureshasbeendeveloped.ThepresentpaperprovidesexperiencesandcurrentstatusofresearchanddevelopmentworksfortheHTGRfuelintheHTTRProject.
