Abstract :
Experimentalinvestigationsandcomputationalfluiddynamics(CFD)calculationsoncoolantmixinginpressurisedwaterreactors(PWR)havebeenperformedwithintheECprojectFLOMIX-R.Theprojectaimsatdescribingthemixingphenomenarelevantforbothsafetyanalysis,particularlyinsteamlinebreakandborondilutionscenarios,andmixingphenomenaofinterestforeconomicaloperationandthestructuralintegrity.Measurementdatafromasetofmixingexperimentshavebeengainedbyusingadvancedmeasurementtechniqueswithenhancedresolutionintimeandspace.Slugmixingtestssimulatingthestart-upofthefirstmaincirculationpumpareperformedwithtwo1:5scaledfacilities:theRossendorfCoolantMixingmodelROCOMandtheVattenfalltestfacility.AdditionaldataonslugmixinginaVVER-1000typereactorhavebeengainedata1:5scaledmetalmock-upatEDOGidropress.ExperimentalresultsonbuoyancydrivenmixingoffluidswithdensitydifferenceshavebeenobtainedatROCOMandtheFortumPTStestfacility.
