Abstract :
Itisimportanttoknowthedegreeofplasticstraininordertoevaluatethesusceptibilityandcrackgrowthrateofstresscorrosioncracking(SCC)instainlesssteelandnickelbasedalloy,becauseSCCisenhancedbythecoldworkandcausesmanyproblemsinnuclearpowerplantcomponents.Inthisstudy,electronbackscatterdiffractioninconjunctionwithscanningelectronmicroscopyisappliedtomeasuretheplasticstrainimposedtostainlesssteelbytensileload.Anewparameter,whichquantifiesthespreadofthecrystalorientationwithinindividualgrainsarisingduetodislocationaccumulationduringplasticdeformation,iscorrelatedwithimposedplasticstrain.Thenewparameteriscalled‘crystaldeformation’andisdeterminedfromthespreadinmisorientationfromthecentralgrainorientation.Itisconfirmedthatthisparameterhasagoodcorrelationwithplasticstrainandisnotaffectedbythedatadensityofthecrystalorientationmap.Thedislocationdensitydistributionisalsoevaluatedfromthemisorientationfromthecentralorientation.Relativelyhighdislocationdensitywasobservedneargrainboundariesandgrainboundarytriplepoints,whichwasconsistentwiththeobserveddeteriorationofEBSDpatternqualityinthoselocations.
