Abstract :
Anumericalinvestigationiscarriedoutforturbulentparticle-ladenflowthroughadosediffusionpipeforamodelreactorsystem.ALagrangianstochasticMonte-Carloparticle-trackingapproachandtheaveragedReynoldsequationswithak–ɛturbulencemodel,withatwo-layerzonalmethodintheboundarylayer,areusedforthedisperseandcontinuousphases.Theflowpatternscoupledwiththeparticledynamicsarepredicted.Itisobservedthatthecouplingofthecontinuousphasewiththeparticledynamicsisimportantinthiscase.Itwasfoundthatthegeometryofthethroatsignificantlyinfluencestheparticledistribution,flowpatternsandlengthoftherecirculationregion.Theaccuracyofthesimulationsdependsonthenumericalpredictionandcorrectionofthefluidphasevelocityduringacharacteristictimeintervaloftheparticles.Anumericalsolutionstrategyforthecomputationoftwo-waymomentumcoupledflowisdiscussed.Thethreetestcasesshowdifferentflowfeaturesintheformationofarecirculationregionbehindthethroat.Themethodwillbeusefulforthequalitativeanalysisofconceptualdesignsandtheiroptimisation.
