Abstract :
A1/8-scalemodelwasconstructedofareinforcedconcretecontainmentvessel(RCCV)usedinthelatestadvancedboilingwaterreactors(ABWR).ShakingtabletestswereconductedonitwithinputmotionscorrespondingtoorexceedingadesignearthquakeassumedforarealNuclearPowerPlant.
Theobjectivesofthetestsweretoverifythestructuralintegrityandtheleak-prooffunctionalsoundnessoftheRCCVsubjectedtodesignearthquakes,andtodeterminetheultimatestrengthandseismicmarginbyanexcitationthatledtothemodelʹscollapse.Themodel,thetestsequenceandthepressureandleaktestresultswereaddressedinPart1.Theshakingtabletestmethod,theinputmotionsandthetestresults,includingthetransitionofthemodelʹsstiffness,naturalfrequenciesanddampingfactorsandtheeffectsofverticalinputmotionsandinternalpressureonthemodelʹscharacteristicsandbehavior,theload–deformation,theultimatestrength,thefailuremodeofthereinforcedconcreteportionandthelinerplatearedescribedhere.TheseismicsafetymarginthatwasevaluatedbytheenergyinputduringthefailuretesttoadesignbasisearthquakewillbedescribedinPart3.Theanalyticalresultsofsimulationusingthemulti-lumpedmassmodelwillbedescribedinPart4.
