Abstract
Ahypotheticalcoredisruptiveaccidentinaliquidmetalfastbreederreactor(LMFBR)resultsfromtheinteractionbetweenmoltenfuelandliquidsodium,whichcreatesahigh-pressurebubbleofgasinthecore.Theviolentexpansionofthisbubbleloadsanddeformsthevesselandtheinternalstructures.TheMARSexperimentaltestsimulatesaHCDAinasmall-scalemock-upcontainingallthesignificantinternalcomponentsofafastbreederreactor.Themock-upisfilledwithwater,toppedbyanargonblanket,andtheexplosionisgeneratedbyanexplosivecharge.
ThispaperpresentsanumericalsimulationofthetestwiththeEUROPLEXUScode.Thetopclosureisrepresentedbymassivestructuresandthemaininternalstructuresaredescribedbyshells.Thecurrentnumericalresultsaredescribedandcomparedwiththeexperimentalones,andpreviouscomputationswiththeCASTEM-PLEXUScode.
