  • Abstract
    Weldedjointsareusedforconstructionofmanystructures.Residualstressisinducednearthebeadcausedbylocallygivenheat.Tensileresidualstressonthesurfacemayreducefatiguestrength.Inthispaper,anewmethodforreductionofresidualstressusingvibrationduringweldingisproposed.Asvibrationalload,randomvibration,whitenoiseandfilteredwhitenoiseareused.Twothinplatesarebutt-welded.ResidualstressismeasuredwithaparalleledbeamX-raydiffractometerwithscintillationcounterafterremovingquenchedscalechemically.Itisconcludedthattensileresidualstressnearthebeadisreducedbyusingrandomvibrationduringwelding.
