Abstract :
Anexperimentalstudyisperformedtoinvestigatetheeffectsofnoncondensable(NC)gasinthesteamcondensingsystem.Averticalcondensertubeissubmergedinawaterpoolwheretheheatfromthecondensertubeisremovedbyboilingheattransfer.Thedesignofthetestsectionisbasedonthepassivecondensersysteminanadvancedboilingwaternuclearpowerreactor.Dataareobtainedforvariousprocessparameters,suchasinletsteamflowrate,noncondensablegasconcentration,andsystempressure.Degradationofthecondensingperformancewithincreasingnoncondensablegasisinvestigated.Thecondensationheattransfercoefficientandheattransferratedecreasewithnoncondensablegas.Thecondensationheattransferrateisenhancedbyincreasingtheinletsteamflowrateandthepressure.Thecondensationheattransfercoefficientincreaseswiththeinletsteamflowrate,however,decreaseswiththesystempressure.Forthecondensersubmergedinawaterpoolwithsaturatedcondition,thestrongprimarypressuredependencyisobserved.
