Abstract :
Avortexvalve,calledfluidicdevice,istobeinstalledinsideaSafetyInjectionTank(SIT)ofAdvancedPowerReactor1400MWe(APR1400)thatpassivelycontrolsanEmergencyCoreCooling(ECC)waterdischargeflowratewithoutanymovingpartoranyactionoftheplantoperator.Thefluidicdevicewasdesigned,anditsperformancewasevaluatedbyaseriesofrepetitiveexperimentsusingVAlvePerformanceEvaluationRig(VAPER),aprototypicalfull-scaletestfacility.ThepassiveflowcontrollingSITsatisfiedthemajorperformancerequirementsoftheAPR1400plantdesign,inviewofpeakdischargeflowrate,pressurelosscoefficient,anddurationtimeoftheECCwaterdischarge.
