Abstract :
AspartofthereactordynamicsactivitiesofFZK/IRS,thequalificationofadetailed3DCFDmodelofareactorpressurevesselisakeystepinsafetyevaluationsforimprovingpredictivecapabilitiesandacceptabilityofcommercialCFDtoolsinreactorphysics.TheVVER-1000CoolantTransientBenchmark,initiatedbyOECD,representsanexcellentopportunityforvalidation.InthisworkaCFDmodelforthecompleteVVER-1000reactorpressurevesselispresented.Duetocomputationallimitssimplificationsofthecoreandofsomeothergeometricaldetailsareintroduced.Thesimulatedscenarioistheheat-upofonecoolantloopincaseoftheisolationofasteamgeneratorwhilethereactorisoperatingatalowpowerlevel.Twotransientrunswithafirstandsecondorderapproximationofthespatialdiscretizationareperformed.Unexpectedly,thefirstordermethodrevealsbetteragreementwithmeasureddata.
