Abstract :
AComputationalFluidDynamics(CFD)analysisforathermalmixingtestwasperformedfor30stodevelopthemethodologyforanumericalanalysisofthethermalmixingbetweensteamandsubcooledwaterandtoapplyittoAdvancedPowerReactor1400MWe(APR1400).IntheCFDanalysis,thesteamcondensationphenomenonbyadirectcontactwassimulatedbytheso-calledcondensationregionmodel.Thermalmixingphenomenoninthesubcooledwatertankwastreatedasanincompressibleflow,afreesurfaceflowbetweentheairandthewater,andaturbulentflow,whichareimplementedintheCFX4.4.ThecomparisonoftheCFDresultswiththetestdatashowedagoodagreementasawhole,butasmalllocaltemperaturedifferencewasfoundatsomelocations.Asensitivityanalysiswasperformedtofindthereasonofthetemperaturedifference.ThecommercialCFDcodeofCFX4.4togetherwiththecondensationregionmodelcansimulatethethermalmixingbehaviorreasonablywellwhenasufficientnumberofmeshdistributionsandapropernumericalmethodareselected.
