Abstract :
Counter-currentflowregimesofairandwaterareinvestigatedintheWENKAtestfacilityattheForschungszentrumKarlsruhe.Withthefluorescent-particleimagevelocimetry(PIV)measurementtechnique,velocityandvelocityfluctuationsaremeasureduptothefreesurface.Astatisticalmodelispresentedtocorrelatethemeasuredvoidfractionwiththeturbulentkineticenergycalculatedfromthemeasuredvelocityfluctuations.Theexperimentaldataareusedtodevelopaphaseinteractionmodeltosimulatestratifiedflows.Twodifferentapproachesarecomparedforturbulencemodelling.ThePrandtlmixinglengthmodelandanextendedk–ωmodelforthetwo-phaseregionareappliedtosupercriticalflowconditions.
