Abstract :
Thispaperdiscussesthesevereaccidentmanagementguidance(SAMG)developmentprocessundertakenfortheCanadianCANDU6nuclearpowerplants(NPPs);thecustomizationprocessofthegenericCANDUSAMGforthePointLepreauNPPispresented.Examplesofsevereaccidentmanagement(SAM)guidelinesrelatedtocontainmentpressurecontrolareincludedinthispaper.ThispaperalsoprovidesanoverviewsummaryofthesevereaccidentanalysisprogramatAtomicEnergyofCanadaLimited(AECL)thatcomplementstheSAMguidelinesdevelopmentprocessfortheCANDU6NPPsinCanada.TheseanalysesprovidedinsightsintotheaccidentprogressionandbasistodeveloptheSAMguidelines.
