Abstract :
Intheconcretecaskstoragesystem,spentfuelisinstalledandweld-sealedinacylindricalcontainercalledacanister.Thecanisterisfilledwithheliumgasanditscontainmentshallbemaintainedandinspectedduringstorage.Theheliumgasenhancesheatremovalfromspentfuel.Whentheheliumgasleaks,theeffectofheliumgasconvectionisweakenedinthecanister.Thereof,thetemperatureonthecanistersurfacechanges.
Inpresenttests,itwasfoundthattemperaturesofthecenterofthetopandthebottomonthecanistersurfacechangeremarkablyduringtheheliumgasleak.Therefore,wedefinedthetemperaturedifferenceasΔTBT.AndonecandetectheliumgasleakusingthechangeofΔTBT.ΔTBTincreasesmonotonouslytowardaconstantvalueduringheliumgasleak,eveniftheinletairtemperaturedrops.TheheliumgasleakcanbedetectedattheearlystageoftheleakbyobservingbothΔTBTandinletairtemperature.
