Abstract
Thepurposeofthisworkwastoevaluatethecontentofdifficulttomeasureisotope129IintheRBMK-1500reactorfuel-to-cladgapandreactormaincirculationcircuit(MCC)coolant.Todeterminefissionproduct(FP)releasefromthedefectivefuel,themethodologyproposedbyLewisandHusainfortheCANDUreactorprimarycoolantactivitypredictionwasapplied.ThedeterminedeffectivediffusioncoefficientD′=1.2E−09s−1ofiodineintheRBMK-1500fuelishigherthantheoneevaluatedfortheCANDUfuel6.8E−10s−1.ResultsshowthatthemethoddevelopedbyLewisandHusaincanbeappliedfortheRBMK-1500fuelgapandreactormaincirculationcircuitcoolantactivityprediction.
