Abstract
Thepaperproposesdimensionlessparametersfortheanalysisofstabilityinheatedchannelswithsupercriticalfluids.Theparametersaredevisedbasingontheclassicalphasechangeandsub-coolingnumbersadoptedinthecaseofboilingchannels,proposinganovelformulationmakinguseoffluidpropertiesatthepseudo-criticaltemperatureasafunctionofpressure.Theadoptedformulationfordimensionlessdensityofagivenfluidprovidesauniquedependencewithrespecttodimensionlessenthalpy,inareasonablywiderangeofsystempressures,thusgivinggeneralitytothepredictionsofunstableconditionsobtainedasafunctionofdimensionlessparameters.Itisshownthattheseparametersallowsettingupquantitativestabilitymapsforasingleheatedchannelwithimposedoverallpressuredrop,inanalogywiththeonesproposedinpreviousworkconcerningboilingchannels.Similaritieswiththeboilingchannelstabilityphenomenaarepointedout,alsosupportingtheconclusionswithsystemcodepredictions.
