Abstract :
Ananalyticalstudyofsupercriticalflowinstabilityintwohorizontalparallelchannelsisreportedherein—atopicthatwouldbeofimmensevaluetonewreactordesignsthatproposetousesupercriticallightwaterontheprimaryside.Thefindingisthatsupercriticalflowinstabilityinhorizontalchannelsisdrivenprimarilybythestatepropertyvariationofdensitywithenthalpy;inparticular,thesecondderivativeofdensitywithenthalpyisadominanttermfortheonsetofflowoscillationsinhorizontalflow.
