Abstract
Downcomerboilingphenomenainaconventionalpressurizedwaterreactorhasanimportanteffectonthetransientbehaviorofapostulatedlarge-breakLOCA(LBLOCA),becauseitcandegradethehydraulicheadofthecoolantinthedowncomerandconsequentlyaffecttherefloodflowrateforacorecooling.Toinvestigatethethermalhydraulicbehaviorinthedowncomerregion,atestprogramforadowncomerboiling(DOBO)isbeingprogressedfortherefloodphaseofapostulatedLBLOCA.Testfacilitywasdesignedasaonesideheatedrectangularchannelwhichadoptsafull-pressure,full-height,andfull-sizedowncomer-gapapproach,butwiththecircumferentiallengthreduced47.08-fold.Thetestwasperformedbydividingitintotwo-phases:(I)visualobservationandacquisitionoftheglobaltwo-phaseflowparametersand(II(a))measurementofthelocalbubbleflowparametersonthemeasuringplanesalongfiveelevations.Inthepresentpaper,thetestresultsofPhase-IandapartofPhase-II(a)wereintroduced.
