Abstract :
TheapplicationofthegeneralizedRoeschemetothenumericalsimulationoftwo-phaseflowmodelsrequiresafastandrobustcomputationoftheabsolutevalueofthesystemmatrix.Inseveralmodelssuchasthetwo-fluidmodelorageneralmultifieldmodel,thismatrixhasanon-trivialeigenstructureandtheeigendecompositionisoftenillconditioned.Wegiveageneralalgorithmavoidingthediagonalizationprocess.Itisbasedonaniterativeapproach,butturnsouttobeanexactcomputationwhentheeigenvaluesarereal.Theknowledgeofthecharacteristicpolynomialgivesusaneasyaccesstotheeigenvaluesbuthowever,theiterativeschemecanbeusedwithonlyestimatesoftheeigenvalues,usingforexampleGershgorin’sdisklocalization.Wefinallyshowsomenumericalresultsoftwo-fluidmodelsimulationsinvolvinginterfacialpressureandavirtualmassforcemodel.
