Abstract :
Inthispaper,thestronginfluenceofthecladfailurecriteriaonthecalculatedscenarioofbundledegradationwasdemonstratedonthebasisofcomparativeanalysisofPhebusFPandPBF–SFDtestsusingtheSVECHA/QUENCH(S/Q)code.Themainpeculiarityoftheproposedmechanisticcriteriaisthattheyarebasedontheactualgeometryofdegradedfuelrodsandnotonaconstant,user-definedfailuretemperature.Thisallowsbettermodellingconcerningtheformationoflocalmoltenpool(s)intheupperpartofbundleandthetimingofsubsequentmaterialsrelocationsfromthelocalmoltenpool(s).Ingeneral,themechanisticcriteriadevelopedallowonetoreasonablycalculatethebundledegradationprogressioninbothtests.Therefore,itisrecommendedtousethesenew,mechanisticcladdingfailurecriteriainthesevereaccidentsystemcodesaswell.
