  • Abstract
    Inthestudyofseverepressurizedwaterreactoraccidents,thescenariosthatdescribetherelocationofsignificantquantitiesofliquidcoriumatthebottomofthelowerheadareusuallyinvestigatedfromthemechanicalpointofview.Inthesescenarios,theriskofabreachandthepossibilityofalargequantityofcoriumbeingreleasedfromthelowerheadexists.Thismayleadtoanoutofvesselsteamexplosionortodirectheatingofthecontainment;bothwhichhavethepotentialtoleadtoearlycontainmentfailure.
