Abstract :
Positronannihilationspectroscopy(PAS)basedonpositronlifetimemeasurementsusingthepulsedlowenergypositronsystem(PLEPS)wereappliedfortheinvestigationofdefectsofirradiatedandthermallytreatedreactorpressurevessel(RPV)steels.PLEPSresultsshowedthatthechangesinmicrostructureoftheRPV-steelpropertiescausedbyneutronirradiationandpost-irradiationheattreatmentcanbewelldetected.Fromthelifetimemeasurementsinthenear-surfaceregion(20–550nm)thedefectdensityinRussiantypesofRPV-steelswascalculatedusingthediffusion-trappingmodel.Thepost-irradiationheattreatmentstudiesperformedonnon-irradiatedspecimensarealsopresented.
