Abstract :
Anexperimentalstudywascarriedouttoimproveandexpandunderstandingofboilingphenomenaandthecriticalheatflux(CHF)duringnaturalconvectiveboilinginuniformlyheatedinclinedtubessubmergedinapoolofsaturatedliquidsunderatmosphericpressure.Thetestconditionswereasfollows:interdiametersofthetesttubesrangedfrom0.9to8.0mm;heatedlengthsrangedfrom100to400mm,andinclinationanglesvariedfrom30°toverticalposition.ThetestfluidswerewaterandR-11.TheexperimentalresultsshowedthattheCHFdecreaseswiththeincreasingratioofthetubelengthtothetubediameter,andwiththereducingoftheinclinationangle.Asemi-theoreticalcorrelation,whichoriginallyusedfortheCHFduringnaturalconvectiveboilinginverticaltubes,wasmodifiedtopredicttheCHFoccursintheinclinedtubes.ThemodifiedcorrelationagreedreasonablywellwiththepresentexperimentaldataandotherCHFdatafornarrowinclinedannulartubes.
