Abstract :
Anirradiationtestoffoursphericalfuelelements(SFE)hadbeenperformedintheRussianreactorIVV-2M.Theelementsweresampledrandomlyfromthefirstandsecondproductbatcheswhichweremanufacturedforthe10MWhigh-temperaturegas-cooledtestreactor(HTR-10).Themaximumburnupoftheirradiatedfuelelementsreached107,000MWd/tUandthemaximumfastneutronfluencewas1.31×1025m−2.Therelease-to-birthrateratio(R/B)didnotincreasesignificantlyduringirradiation.However,anin-pileheating-uptestofelementSFE7inCapsule5ledtoafailureofapproximately6%ofthecoatedparticles.Afterthetestitwasestimatedthatthefueltemperaturehadverylikelybeenmuchhigherthantheintended1600°C.
