Abstract :
Ageneralcriticalheatflux(CHF)predictionmethodwithawideapplicablerangeandreasonableaccuracyisessentialtothethermal-hydraulicdesignandsafetyanalysisattheconceptualdesignstageforanewpressurizedwaterreactor(PWR).Inthisstudy,theKoreaAdvancedInstituteofScienceandTechnology(KAIST)liquidsub-layerdryoutCHFpredictionmodelforDeparturefromNucleateBoiling(DNB)regionhasbeenimplementedinasub-channelanalysiscode,andinvestigatedforthemethodʹspossibleuseinarodbundleenvironmentwithvariousnon-uniformaxialpowershapes.TheKAISTmodelshowedcomparablepredictioncapabilitytoLinʹsmethodforbottom-,center-,andtop-peakedheatfluxshapes.TheKAISTmodel,withoutanycorrectionfactorsorempiricalconstants,turnedouttobesuitabletofulfilltheneedsforabasisofageneralCHFpredictionmethodascomparedtoLinʹsmethodandWestinghouse-3(W-3)correlation.
