Abstract :
IntheframeworkofR&DonsevereaccidentsforPWRs,definitionofmitigationmeansforcoolingofthemoltencoreafteravesselmelt-throughisofutmostimportance.Inthecaseofspreading-basedconcepts,theTHEMAcode,whichconsidersintegratedbalanceequationsoverthefluiddepth,aimsatpredictingthespreadingextentofnoneutecticmixturesunderdefinedinletconditions(pouringrate,temperatureandcomposition).Inafirstpart,themodelsandtheassessmentstrategyofthecodehavebeenpresentedandthecorrectrunningofthemainmoduliofthecodehavebeenassessedbycomparingthenumericalresultsagainstknownsolutionsofbasicproblems.Inthissecondpart,theresultsofthevalidationofthecodeagainstexperimentsconductedwithloworhightemperaturesimulatingmaterialsaswellasprototypicmeltsarepresented.Itisconcludedthatthecodehasreachedasufficientlevelofconfidencetomakepredictivereactorapplications.
