Abstract
Inthiswork,thethermalpropertiesofepoxycoatingsystemonthelinerplateinthecontainmentstructurehavebeeninvestigatedbyirradiationdoserateanddesignbasisaccident(DBA)conditions.Also,theeffectofimmersioninhotwateronadhesionstrengthsofepoxycoatingsystemhasbeenstudied.Theglasstransitiontemperature(Tg)andthermalstabilityoftheepoxycoatingsystemafterDBAtestsweremeasuredbydifferentialscanningcalorimeter(DSC)andthermogravimetricanalyser(TGA)analyses,respectively.Contactanglemeasurementswereusedtodeterminetheeffectofimmersiononthesurfaceenergeticsofepoxycoatingsystem,includingsurfacefreeenergyandworkofadhesion.Adhesiontestswerealsoexecutedtoevaluatetheadhesionstrengthatinterfacesbetweencarbonsteelplateandepoxyresins.Asaresult,theDBAtestledtotheimprovementoftheinternalstructureincuredepoxysystems,resultinginsignificantlyincreasingthethermalstability,aswellastheTg.Also,theimmersioninhotwaterhadaroleinthepostcuringofepoxyresinsandincreasedthemechanicalinterlockingofthenetworksystem,resultinginincreasingtheadhesionstrengthsoftheepoxycoatingsystem.
