Abstract
Aswingcheckvalveiscommonlyusedtopreventareverseflowinthepipelinesofanuclearpowerplant.Theflowresistancebytheswingcheckvalvevarieswiththelocationoftheswingdiskinthevelocityrangelowerthantherequiredminimumvelocityforafullopeningoftheswingdisk,therebythefluidflowissignificantlyaffectedbythedynamicmotionoftheswingdisk.Suchaphenomenonisveryimportanttoanalyzesafetyissues,oneofwhichisthegravityfeedfollowingalossoftheresidualheatremoval(RHR)whichoccursduringamid-loopoperation.Thispaperfocusedonthedevelopmentofanewcheckvalvemodeltoenhancethecapabilityofthethermal-hydraulicsystemcode.Anewangularmomentumequationforthediskofaswingcheckvalveisproposed.TheproposedmodelisimplementedintotheMARScodeandverifiedthroughacomparisonofthesimulationresultswiththeexperimentaldata.Inparticular,theresultsofthesimulationforthegravityfeedlinearecomparablyconsistentwiththerealtestdataperformedinanuclearpowerplant.
