Abstract :
Simplifiedmethodtoevaluatetheupperlimitstressintensityfactor(SIF)rangeofaninner-surfacecircumferentialcrackinathin-tothick-walledcylinderundersteadystatethermalstripingwasconsideredinthispaper.Theedgesofthecylinderwererotation-restrainedandtheoutersurfacewasadiabaticallyinsulated.TheinnersurfaceofthecylinderwasheatedbyafluidwithconstantheattransfercoefficientwhosetemperaturefluctuatedsinusoidallyatconstantamplitudeΔT.Bycombiningouranalyticaltemperaturesolutionfortheproblemandoursemi-analytical-numericalSIFevaluationmethodforthecrack,weshowedthatthedesiredmaximumsteadystateSIFrangecanbeevaluatedwithanengineeringaccuracyafterΔT,themeanradiustowallthicknessratiorm/Wofthecylinder,thethermalexpansioncoefficientandPoissonʹsratioarespecified.Byapplyingourmethod,notransientSIFanalysisnorsensitivityanalysisofthestripingfrequencyontheSIFrangeisnecessary.Numericalresultsshowedthatourmethodisvalidforcylindersinarangeofrm/W=10–1.
