Abstract :
Thisarticlepresentsaninnovativenuclearpowertechnology,basedontheuseofmodulartypefast-neutronreactorsSVBR-75/100havingheavyliquid-metalcoolant,i.e.eutecticlead–bismuthalloy,whichwasmasteredinRussiaforthenuclearsubmarines’reactors.ReactorSVBR-75/100possessesinherentself-protectionandpassivesafetypropertiesthatallowexcludingofmanysafetysystemsnecessaryfortraditionaltypereactors.Useofthisnuclearpowertechnologymakesitpossibletoeliminateconflictingrequirementsamongsafetyneedsandeconomicfactors,whichisparticularlyfoundintraditionalreactors,toincreaseconsiderablytheinvestmentattractivenessofnuclearpowerbasedontheuseoffast-neutronreactorsforthenearfuture,whenthecostofnaturaluraniumislowandtoassuredevelopmentofnuclearpowerinmarketconditions.Onthebasisofthefactory-fabricated“standard”reactormodules,itispossibletoconstructthenuclearpowerplantswithdifferentpowerandpurposes.Withoutchangingthedesign,itispossibleforreactorSVBR-75/100tousedifferentkindsoffuelandoperateindifferentfuelcycleswithmeetingthesafetyrequirements.
