Singular Hopf-bifurcation in a chemical reaction-diffusion system Original Research Article

For a system of reaction-diffusion equations with a small parameter ϵ > 0, modelling spatio-temporal patterns arising in chemical systems, a Hopf-bifurcation of equilibrium solutions with a sharp internal transition layer is established. The Hopf-bifurcation is singular in the sense that it cannot be detected in the singular limit as ϵ → 0.
