Explicit solutions for 2 × 2 linearly degenerate systems Original Research Article

We provide explicit formulae for the weak solutions of the Cauchy problems associated with two kinds of 2 × 2 systems of conservation laws, namely, the linearly degenerate system and the Keyfitz-Kranzer model. The method used allows us to show easily the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for the Cauchy problem, and impose precisely the hypotheses on the initial data for the well-posedness of the problem.
