Fractal based surface characterization of laser treated polymer foils

changes. Laser fluences below the ablation threshold caused regular (in large scale) and irregular (in small scale) patterns on the surface of irradiated foils. The observed peculiarities in surface morphology have been characterized within the framework of fractals. The fractal (boxcounting) dimension of irradiated areas in the range of applied fluences has been determined.
