Abstract :
Recently the concept of a no-feedback control has been developed, based on having an accurate model of the unperturbed system from which an appropriate driving force can be calculated. In this paper we study the possibility to control without feedback high-dimensional states. The basic idea is to occasionally apply an appropriate driving force to the experimental system in order to simplify the actual dynamics, e.g. to slave most degrees of freedom. This type of slaving principle will be applied to the intermittent wake flow behind a circular cylinder at Re = 190. In addition it will be shown that an excessively large sound excitation or the application of an unsuitable pertubation to the experimental systems can lead to more complicated high-dimensional dynamical states.
