Abstract :
This is the second of two papers dealing with the road surface contribution to the tire–pavement skid resistance. In the first part, an overview of surface texture parameters, a regressional approach to skid resistance estimations and the mathematical background of fractal interpolation functions were presented. Special emphasis has been given to the evaluation of surface wetting, whereas in this second part, the emphasis is concentrated on the effect of surface wear to the values of skid resistance. For this purpose, the mathematical background is extended to cover C1 interpolation curves. A regression equation is used again to conventionally evaluate the assumptions made for the wearing procedure of the pavement surface texture. The whole attempt yields encouraging results.
