Abstract :
A mathematical model is presented based on equilibrium and fundamental equations with considering geometric relations to determine principal stresses in steady state creep of short fiber composites under axial tensile loading. Important novelty of this research is determination of principal stresses in matrix at outer surface of the composite without using complex theories. In this model, determination of results is easier than the previous analytical methods. Principal stress values are very important for designing composites in the creeping matrix. Investigation of principal stress behavior is used for failure, fracture and fatigue analyses in reinforced materials in the steady state creep of the short fiber composites. As a result, linear behavior, smooth gradient and constant slope are seen in the principal stress behaviors and curves at outer surface of the composite. Finally, good agreements are found between the obtained analytical and numerical results.
