Abstract :
In this paper, hardware implementation of a highly accurate Interval Type-2 (IT2) fuzzifier is demonstrated. Triangular, trapezoidal, S and Z-shape Interval Type-2 membership functions could be generated using this circuit. This fuzzifier consists of a Type-1 fuzzifier and a Type-2 Generator circuit which converts the Type-1 membership functions to Type-2 membership functions. Using this circuit, shapes of upper and lower membership functions could have different shapes and amounts of Footprint of Uncertainty (FOU), slope, height and width of Interval Type-2 membership functions could be adjusted easily and independently. These properties increase the eligibility of this circuit to be used as fuzzifier block in Interval Type-2 fuzzy logic controllers (IT2FLC). In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed circuit, it has been simulated in HSPICE using TSMC 0.35?m CMOS technology. This circuit consumes 657?W with supply voltage of 3.3V and its area is about 0.01mm2.
