Abstract :
The gauge-generation of Coulombic interaction in models of S-wave π-nuclear interaction enables the determination of the charge asymmetry of the πD scattering length in terms of the three-body term embodying this extension. One finds the contribution to the charge asymmetry of the πD scattering length from this internal Coulomb correction to be somewhat larger (Δaπ ≡ aπ−gauge − aπ+gauge = −0.0015mπ−1) than the sum of three-body terms exhibiting chiral cancellation. The value of the latter contribution used in the comparison is that recently reported by Weinberg, achiral cancellation = −0.0005mπ−1.
