Abstract
We have measured the fission fragment angular correlations, both in- and out-of-the-reaction-plane, in coincidence with projectile-like fragments, to infer the linear and angular momentum transfer and its alignment in the reaction of 16O with 197Au at 22 and 30 MeV/nucleon. A general correlation between transferred angular and linear momentum is observed for fissioning nuclei that is different from that observed in reactions where the intermediate complex survives fission.
